About 27 - Bhairab Griba Shhakti Peeth
The Shri Shail Mahalakshmi Temple in Sylhet, Bangladesh, is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas where Goddess Sati's neck (Griba) is believed to have fallen. Known as Griva Peeth, it is dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi, with Bhairav named Sambharanand. According to legend, seven jewels (Aaparnas) of Goddess Sati also fell near this site, worshipped as Spatha Matas.
In the 12th–13th century, workers discovered a black rock that could not be moved while constructing a road. When a worker split the rock, a mysterious girl appeared, slapped the worker, and disappeared. That night, the goddess appeared in a dream to Deviprasad Das, asking him to install her and leave the temple open to the sky. Following her instructions, the site remains open-roofed, preserving its sacred legacy.
श्री शैल महालक्ष्मी मंदिर, सिलहट, बांग्लादेश, 51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक है, जहाँ माता सती का गला (ग्रीवा) गिरा था। इसे ग्रीवा पीठ के नाम से जाना जाता है और यह देवी महालक्ष्मी को समर्पित है, जबकि भैरव का नाम संभरणंद है। मान्यता है कि यहाँ देवी सती के सात आभूषण (आपर्णा) भी गिरे, जिन्हें सप्त माताओं के रूप में पूजा जाता है।
12वीं–13वीं शताब्दी में सड़क निर्माण के दौरान, श्रमिकों ने एक काले पत्थर की खोज की जिसे हिलाया नहीं जा सका। जब एक श्रमिक ने इसे काटा, तो एक रहस्यमयी लड़की प्रकट हुई, जिसने उसे थप्पड़ मारा और गायब हो गई। उसी रात देवी महालक्ष्मी ने देवप्रसाद दास को स्वप्न में दर्शन देकर उन्हें मंदिर निर्माण और उसे खुले रूप में छोड़ने का आदेश दिया। तब से, यह स्थल बिना छत के है और इसका पवित्र रूप संरक्षित है।
